I’m a writer. I come from a family of Chinese scientists, so naturally I flouted my genetic and cultural proclivities in favor of a life in letters. My passion is fiction — a passion I presently feed by trying to propel my novel And All Its Dark Places into publication, exploring possibilities for my next project, and having a bookmark in at least two novels on my nightstand at any given time — but I have written everything from advertising copy to fundraising letters to jargon about magnetic components. Aside from professional writing, I’ve written my way through an MFA in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University, a Graduate Certificate in Teaching Composition from the same, and a BA in Mass Communications from UC Berkeley.
I was born and raised in a suburb of Los Angeles, where most of my scientific Chinese family still reside. My kids, big brown dog, and I are proud to call Berkeley home. In addition to writing, working, and mom-ing, I’m a reader, an anosmiac, a nerd, a volunteer, an optimist, and an amateur but enthusiastic seamstress and pianist.
My work has appeared in Grey Sparrow Journal, Instant City, and Transfer.
